What Our Participants Share

AH

Azrul Hisham

Financial Analyst, Kuala Lumpur

"I have been building spreadsheets for years, but always in a somewhat haphazard way. The Basics course forced me to stop and think about structure — and I immediately started applying it at work. My manager actually commented that my reports were easier to read."

Siti Wardah

Accounts Executive, Shah Alam

"The Workshop was well-paced and the facilitator was genuinely patient when questions came up. I appreciated that we were building a real model throughout — not just watching examples. I do wish there had been slightly more time on error-checking, but overall a solid experience."

RK

Rajesh Kumar

Operations Manager, Subang Jaya

"I joined the Complete Program mainly to learn scenario tables, which we use in budgeting at work. The program delivered on that — and more. The annotated templates alone were worth the enrolment. The peer group has also been useful; we still share model questions a couple months on."

Lee Yen Ping

Business Analyst, Petaling Jaya

"What I valued most was the glossary. I have always found formula explanations in Excel's help section hard to decode. Modelio's glossary is in plain language that actually makes sense. I still open it when I need to double-check something."

Norzaida Faridah

Finance Executive, Klang

"I enrolled in the Workshop because a friend recommended it. The small group made a real difference — the facilitator had time to look at my specific model and point out where my structure was unclear. That kind of individual attention is hard to get from a video course."

Darren Tan

Investment Associate, Kuala Lumpur

"The Complete Program was demanding — 11 weeks is a real commitment — but worth it. The check-ins were particularly useful when I was working on a scenario table and ran into a structural problem I could not solve alone. The facilitator walked me through the logic rather than just giving me the answer."

Case Studies

Three Participant Journeys

The Challenge

A finance team member in a small company was responsible for monthly reporting but had built models organically over time — no consistent structure, formulas mixed with hardcoded values, and no clear separation of assumptions.

The Approach

Enrolled in the Basics course to build habits from scratch, then completed the Workshop to apply them to a real model under facilitator supervision. Used the annotated templates as a restructuring guide.

The Outcome

Monthly reporting model was rebuilt with clear input sections, labelled assumptions, and consistent formatting. Colleagues could now open and follow the file without a walkthrough. Month-end close time reduced noticeably.

"I always knew the model was messy. Now I actually know how to keep it tidy — and why that matters." — Workshop participant, Selangor

The Challenge

A business administration graduate wanted to move into a more analytical role but lacked confidence in modeling. Had no prior finance training and was unsure whether the courses would be accessible.

The Approach

Started with the Basics course, working through the self-paced modules over four weeks. Found the formula glossary particularly useful for building vocabulary. Later enrolled in the Complete Program to deepen the skills.

The Outcome

Moved into an analyst support role within a few months of completing the program. Brought the template library and glossary into the new role as a personal reference. Now participates in the peer community to stay current.

"The program was the first time I felt like I understood why a model was structured a particular way, not just how to follow one." — Complete Program participant, KL

The Challenge

A small business owner was managing budgets in a sprawling spreadsheet that only they could understand. Passing the file to a bookkeeper or adviser meant hours of explanation each time.

The Approach

Joined the Workshop to restructure the business budget model. Used the five sessions to rebuild it from the inputs section outward, with facilitator guidance on which assumptions to surface and how to format outputs.

The Outcome

Budget model rebuilt into a file the bookkeeper could open and use without a walkthrough. Owner could now update assumptions quickly and see the effect on outputs. Monthly review meetings became shorter and more focused.

"The workshop paid for itself the first time I handed the file to my bookkeeper and she understood it without me explaining anything." — Workshop participant, Petaling Jaya
